Chinese premier accepts exclusive interview by Newsweek

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Tuesday accepted an exclusive interview by Fareed Zakaria, international editor of Newsweek.

Wen, who arrived in New York Tuesday morning for a high-level U.N. meeting on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the general debate of the 63rd U.N. General Assembly, answered questions relating to China's reform and opening up, and economic development and foreign policies.

The premier also elaborated China's stance on hot-spot issues in the world, as well as affairs regarding the world economy, financial situation and Sino-U.S. relations.

Zakaria is an Indian-born American journalist, author, and television host specializing in international relations. His new weekly show, Fareed Zakaria GPS, premiered on CNN in June 2008.
