More than 110 military representatives from 36 countries had sung high praises for the troop's performance after they observed a war game of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Zhurihe, Inner Mongolia on Thursday.
The war game was played at Zhurihe tactical training base in north China's Inner Mongolia where 5,211 officers and soldiers from Beijing and Jinan Military Commands as well as the Air Force of the PLA conducted counterwork without designated plans.
It's a very good and effective exercise, parts of which are very complicated and difficult to coordinate, Brigadier General John Seward of the U.S. Army was quoted as saying. "They are very well trained."
The general said the war game was a good effort to improve China's military openness and transparency by inviting military observers from so many countries.
The war game, code-named "Warrior 2008," showcased how China's mechanized troops enhance their combating capacity under simulated conditions of information warfare.
"It was my first time to come but I have heard from some of colleagues that PLA is opening its door and it's possible to see what's going on," said Brazil's military observer Luciano Tavares.
"Chinese army is very well trained and you have so many developed equipment to make it possible to have a good training," he added.
Suren Baasankhuu, Vice Defence Minister of Mongolia, said he was especially impressed by Chinese paratroopers' performance and the exercise had shown PLA's great trust to foreign militaries.
The vice minister also said the exercise had been proved to be conducted for self-defence and peace.
The exercise has been the sixth large-scale maneuvre of the PLA which is open to foreign military officers since 2003.
Chinese Defence Ministry invited the foreign army delegations and observers "with aims to increase military exchange between the PLA and foreign armed forces, and to strengthen mutual trust and understanding," according to a briefing of the ministry.
