South Korean President Lee Myung-bakleft leaves for Beijing on Thursday to attend the 7th summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the Presidential Office said.

Lee is expected to stress the need to create new international organizations to better cope with the financial crisis and other daunting global issues, such as climate change and a potential energy crisis, on various occasions of the summit, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency said.

Lee said earlier that the world needs a new international organization that is capable of tackling current global financial market issues, and that the United Nations must set up a new organization to deal with climate change.

Lee is also set to have talks with his counterparts of Japan, France, Vietnam, Denmark and Poland on the sidelines of the ASEM events, the Presidential Office said.
