China expected to work with the others countries in Asia and Europe to strengthen and deepen the Asian-European partnership, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said here Saturday.

China was looking forward to working with members of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to turn the documentary achievements of the just-ended ASEM meeting and its follow-up proposals into realities so as to push forward the cooperation between Asia and Europe to a new stage, said Wen at a press conference.

The Premier described the two-day meeting as "very meaningful and fruitful" with the release of a statement on the international financial situation, a Beijing declaration on sustainable development and a chairman's statement.

Through frank and in-depth dialogues, the participants reached common understanding on the issues of international economic and financial situation, food security, disaster relief cooperation, international and regional situation, sustainable development and different civilizations, Wen said.

A number of proposals on cooperation in the fields of economy, society, culture and sustainable development were also adopted at the two-day summit.

The meeting was sure to "bring significant and far-reaching influence to the Asia-Europe cooperation," he said.

The summit, which brought leaders and representatives from 45 Asian and European nations and organizations together, was focused on the designed topics of energy, climate change, food security and sustainable development to cope with the current global financial crisis.
