On October 25th, with the arrival of Japanese tourists at the port of Hunchun in China's Jilin Province, the trial voyage of coordinated transport between China, Japan, South Korea and Russia came to a successful end. This project is sponsored by governments and enterprises from these four countries and have cost more than three years of joint efforts.
This is the first transport route in Northeastern China that crosses the Sea of Japan directly to the western coast of Japan.
The route starts from Hunchun city in Jilin Province and ends at the port of Zarubino in Russia on land, and then continues by sea to South Korea's port of Sokcho, before finally arriving in Niigata in Japan.
The route is 800 nautical miles in length and the voyage takes only one and a half days. Compared with China's existing routes to Japan, this new route has advantages of shorter travel time, shorter distance and lower transportation costs.
