A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Zhou Yongkang, on Wednesday pledged to boost China-Vietnam strategic partnership.
Zhou, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, held a two-hour talk with Truong TanSang, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee.
Zhou spoke highly of the great achievements Vietnam had achieved in its reform initiatives. Zhou said the CPC and the Chinese government valued their traditional friendship with Vietnamese counterparts.
In recent years, the two countries have done a lot of substantive work to take bilateral relations into a new era of all-round strategic partnership, Zhou said.
To cement bilateral ties, Zhou proposed the two countries maintain the momentum of exchanges between their leaderships, enhance political trust and keep bilateral relations on the right track.
Stressing the roles of China-Vietnam cooperation steering committees, Zhou said the two countries should step up coordination on departments of foreign affairs, public security and security.
On the economic front, Zhou called for an early blueprint outlining a five-year economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. He also encouraged the two countries to work more closely on big projects and upgrade their economic and trade relations.
Zhou also urged the two countries to positively and properly resolve their problems from the view of strategic partnership.
Sang, also permanent member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee, hailed China's three-decade reform and opening-up drive. He said the CPV and the Vietnamese government would like to work with China to carry out the consensus of their top leaders, deepen cooperation in all fields and push forward bilateral traditional friendship.
Zhou also highlighted the active and pragmatic party-to-party exchanges between China and Vietnam.
He said the departments of CPC would strengthen their exchanges with the CPV counterparts and share experience on party building and country governing.
Zhou arrived here on Tuesday. During his five-day visit, Zhou will also travel to Nha Trang City in the coastal province of Khanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam. Source:Xinhua
