Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Wednesday met with Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac, pledging to enhance cooperation between the two nations.

Hailing the healthy and stable growth of bilateral relations, Xi said the two countries had always supported each other and enjoyed close cooperation in international affairs since forging diplomatic ties.

"China values the relations with Serbia and regards the country as a credible good friend and partner," he noted.

Xi said China respected the Serbian people's choice of development path, and it was ready to work with Serbia to push forward relations.

Sutanovac congratulated China on its successful Beijing Olympic Games and on its remarkable achievements in reform and opening up in the past three decades.

The defense minister said his country valued its relations with China, and firmly adhered to the one-China policy.

Serbia would work with China to enhance relations between the two countries and the two militaries.

Sutanovac was here on his first visit to China from Tuesday to Saturday.
