Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong on Tuesday met with the speaker of the House of Commons, lower house of parliament of Britain for talks on bilateral relations.

During the meeting with Michael John Martin, Liu spoke highly of the recent good momentum in the development of Sino-British relations, saying that the two countries are confronting more opportunities for cooperation under the current sophisticated international circumstances, and China would work together with Britain to continue to deepen practical cooperation in various fields, to improve mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, so as to further boost the bilateral relations.

Education and technology are the two main fields of the cooperation between China and Britain, said Liu, adding that Britain has excellent resources for education and an advanced system for scientific research.

Liu hoped that her visit would boost the exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education and technology between the two countries, and further consolidate Sino-British comprehensive strategic partnership relations.
