Bilateral relations between China and Peru will be boosted after the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries, Peru's official newspaper El Peruano said Saturday.
As the negotiation on the "strategic" FTA concluded recently, the FTA will lay an important piece of block in the foundation for further development of both countries, the newspaper said in an editorial.
The Peruvian and Chinese governments "have maintained excellent diplomatic relations based on dialogue, sincerity and friendship" witnessed by a "pleasant" development of their commercial ties, it said.
Noting China is one of the major trading partners and investors for Peru, the editorial said the deal will not only promote their commerce but also consolidate bilateral ties and reinforce the links between the two peoples.
The conclusion of FTA talks and the 10 pacts inked between the two countries during Chinese President Hu Jintao's "historic" visit to Peru "highlight the spirit of cooperation and solidarity" which was shared by the two sides, the editorial said.
