China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said here Sunday that China is ready to make continuous efforts to promote the development of Sino-Jordanian substantial cooperation in various fields.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks during his talks with Jordanian Senate President Zaid Al Rifaee.

Jia, who arrived here earlier Sunday on an official goodwill visit as Rifaee's guest, said the Chinese side attaches great importance to its relations with Jordan.

He suggested that the two sides maintain high-level exchanges, deepen political mutual trust, push forward reciprocal and win-win cooperation, expand economic and trade ties and promote cultural exchanges.

The Chinese side will continue to encourage Chinese investment in Jordan, said Jia, who also expressed his appreciation for Jordan's adherence to the one-China policy.

Rifaee said Jordan highly appreciates China's position on supporting the just causes of Arab states and hopes that China will play a bigger role in this regard.

Rifaee said Jordan will work with China to implement bilateral cooperation agreements and push for greater achievements in the development of bilateral relations.

In a meeting here Sunday with Jordanian Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdul Hadi Al Majali, Jia said the CPPCC will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Jordanian parliament.

Majali said the Jordanian House of Representatives firmly supports the development of bilateral friendship and cooperation so as to benefit the two peoples.

Jordan is the first leg of Jia's four-nation visit which will also take him to Turkey, Laos and Cambodia.
