Senior Chinese legislator Ismail Tiliwaldi on Wednesday met with a delegation of the Republic of Korea (ROK)'s ruling Grand National Party(GNP).
"The fact that the China-ROK relationship was upgraded to a strategic cooperative partnership in May gave a strong impetus to bilateral ties," Ismail Tiliwaldi, the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, told the delegation head Gu Sang-Chan.
In their meeting in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing, the two reviewed the development of bilateral ties since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1992, particularly the party-to-party exchanges.
"The friendly cooperation between the Communist Party of China and the GNP contributed a lot to the growth of the overall ties," Gu said.
Hailing the role of the party-to-party exchange, Ismail proposed a more diversified exchange program between the two parties.
Gu stressed that the two ruling parties of ROK and China should step up their cooperation for a stronger relationship.
Gu's delegation arrived in Beijing on Tuesday. The six-day tour will also take them to east China's Anhui Province.
