China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin held talks on Thursday with Koksal Toptan, speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, with wide-ranging consensus being reached on the comprehensive development of bilateral ties.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spoke highly of Sino-Turkish relationship which, in his words, cherishes opportunities for the further development of bilateral cooperation.

Jia, who arrived here Wednesday on an official goodwill visit as Toptan's guest, said the Chinese side attaches importance to Turkey's significance and treasures bilateral traditional friendship.

The Chinese side is ready to work with the Turkish side to push bilateral relations to higher levels, said Jia.

He suggested that the two sides strengthen political exchanges and mutual trust, continue their support for each other concerning their respective key interests, and jointly fight religious extremist, national secessionist and international terrorist forces.

He also said the two sides should expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation on the reciprocal and win-win basis, and strengthen cooperation in international and regional affairs.

Toptan said Turkey will continue to promote bilateral traditional friendship and reciprocal cooperation.

The Turkish side shares with the Chinese side an identical position on fighting international terrorist forces, said Toptan, adding that Turkey expects more coordination with China in the United Nations and international affairs.

He reiterated Turkey's adherence to the one-China policy.

Turkey is the second leg of Jia's four-nation visit which has taken him to Jordan and will also take him to Laos and Cambodia.
