Turkish President Abdullah Gul met here Thursday with visiting China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin, and they exchanged views on furthering bilateral relations.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said there is a sound foundation for the two countries to strengthen cooperation in various fields and the Chinese side is confident in bilateral future friendship and cooperation.
Jia, who arrived here Wednesday on an official goodwill visit as guest of Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Koksal Toptan, said China will strengthen political exchanges with Turkey, as well as their coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs.
China will also continue to expand economic and trade cooperation with Turkey, strengthen bilateral cooperation in anti-terrorism and continue mutual support on issues concerning their key interests so as to joint safeguard regional stability.
Gul said it is the common aspiration for the two peoples to further promote bilateral friendship and cooperation in various fields.
Turkey will make concerted efforts with China to enhance bilateral exchanges at various levels, expand cooperation spheres, and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, said Gul.
He appreciated China's positive role in international affairs.
Turkey is the second leg of Jia's four-nation visit which has taken him to Jordan and will also take him to Laos and Cambodia.
