The Communist Party of China (CPC) will step up cooperation with the A Just Russia party of Russia, in an effort to boost bilateral relations, a senior CPC official said here Thursday.

Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks when he met with a Russian delegation headed by Svetlana Goryacheva, secretary of the Central Committee of A Just Russia.

Wang acknowledged the growth momentum of China-Russia relations, especially after five successful meetings between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dimitry Medvedev in 2008.

"The two nations have boosted high-level exchanges, expanded political mutual trust and forged close coordination on international issues," Wang noted.

"The CPC is willing to push forward cooperation to cement the China-Russia Strategic Partnership of Cooperation," Wang said.
