The South-South Global Technology Assets and Equity Exchange, a trading platform for technology property rights mainly serving developing countries, officially started operations in Shanghai on December 9. The foundation-laying construction for the United Nations South-South Technology Transfer Base also commenced at the same time. The G77 delegation, representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), all the Consulate Generals in Shanghai, the Ministry of Commerce and other government departments witnessed the ceremony.

The South-South Global Technology Assets and Equity Exchange is an independently operated international trading organization, and is jointly supported by the UNDP, relevant departments of the Chinese government and the Shanghai Municipal Government. It serves as an internationalized, market-oriented platform for global technology transfer and corporate acquisition and restructuring. The exchange currently has 16 organizations and 18 workstations worldwide.
