Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore on Friday highly praised China's bold efforts in fighting climate change in recent years and said China's efforts were largely ignored at Poznan climate talks.
"China...China, once seen as a looming obstacle of world's efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, has itself a green stimulus of 600 billion dollars over the next two years," Al Gore, an environmentalist and a Nobel laureate, told the high-level meeting of ministers. Gore was interrupted by unanimous applause when he spoke out the word "China."
"Chinese leaders are mobilizing a national effort to introduce CO2 reduction initiatives, and have already begun the largest tree- planting program the word has ever seen," he said. Source:Xinhua
