According to China Central Television, at the invitation of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, 100 children from Sichuan earthquake-stricken areas will leave for the Philippines for a visit between January 11 and 17. On the afternoon of January 6, an opening ceremony for the Sichuan children's trip to the Philippines was held at the Foreign Language Experimental School Affiliated to Tanghu Middle School in Shuangliu County of Chengdu. Chinanews.com ran the story on January 7.

It was reported that two other groups of students from Sichuan earthquake-stricken areas have previously visited Russia and Hungary following an invitation for healing.
