Israeli security forces Thursday shot dead a Palestinian man allegedly trying to blow up a gas station in a West Bank settlement, local daily Ha'aretz reported.
Officers rushed to the scene after they were alerted that a man was trying to torch the gas station in the settlement of Mishur Adumim, located near Jerusalem, said the report.
Despite the order to stand still, the Palestinian man allegedlyran toward the security forces, holding an unrecognizable object in his hand, before he was shot dead, said the report, adding that a Palestinian gas station attendant was lightly wounded in the morning incident.
The killed is yet to be identified. Police investigators reportedly believe that the man was acting in protest against the Israeli onslaught in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, where over 700 have been killed and more than 3,000 others wounded so far.
Demonstrations are widely seen in Israel and the West Bank as in many other countries. The rallies often turned sour with clashes between protestors and security forces.
