Hezbollah informed the Lebanese cabinet that it was not involved in rocket attack on northern Israel; al-Jazeera TV quoted Lebanese Information Minister Tareq Mitri as saying Thursday.

Hezbollah had adopted the stand of the Lebanese cabinet which is keen on sparing Lebanon from any escalation with Israel.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora's adviser Arief al-Abed told al-Jazeera that the prime minister carried out intensive contacts with all Lebanese Leaders including Hezbollah's second in command Sheikh Naim Qassem and all leaders affirmed Lebanon's commitment to UN resolution 1701.

Al-Abed said that the prime minister asked the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) command in southern Lebanon to carry out investigations to the rocket attack.

Seniora affirmed that the Lebanese authority rejects any attack launched from southern Lebanon, as well as the violation of UN resolution 1701.

"There is a Lebanese unanimous agreement in refusing the violation of UN resolution 1701," al-Abed said.

UN resolution 1701 ended the 34-day war between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006, and prohibited any aggression from any side against the other.
