The American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham-China) Friday announced three goals to strengthen Sino-U.S. economic ties to be met by 2039.
John Watkins, chairman of AmCham-China, said the goals each set at 1 trillion U.S. dollars a year were: U.S. exports to China; sales of U.S. companies in China; and investment of Chinese companies in the U.S..
The U.S. government welcomed the three goals, he said.
Bilateral trade was valued at 333.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, about 120 times that of 30 years ago..
The two nations mark 30 years of diplomatic ties this year.
AmCham-China is a non-profit organization that represents U.S. companies and individuals doing business in China.
The AmCham-China's membership comprises more than 2,700 individuals from over 1,200 companies.
