A forest fire that spread to southwest China's Yunnan Province from neighboring Myanmar was putout Wednesday, local authorities said.

About 2,000 soldiers and local residents were still patrolling for fresh outbreaks, a provincial forest fire prevention headquarters official said.

The work is expected to be finished in three days, he said.

No casualties have been reported, he said.

A four-day forest fire in Myanmar crossed border into Tengchong County on Sunday.

Earlier reports said the total area was estimated at 300 hectares, but forest police said that most of the area ablaze was in Myanmar.
