President of Chile's Deputies Chamber, or the lower house, said Friday that he was amazed by China's great development over the past 30 years.

"The progress in China has been amazing in the last three decades," Francisco Encina said in an interview with Xinhua.

China adopted reforms and opening-up 30 years ago, which has brought fundamental changes to a once poor and backward country.

Encina visited China from Feb. 17 to 23 at the invitation of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China (NPC) and its chairman Wu Bangguo.

"We realize that the two countries have common stances on many issues such as anti-protectionism," he said.

Bilateral investment was still low, and needs the joint efforts from both sides, he said.

"The visit to the top Chinese legislative allowed me to learn about some measures the ongoing NPC probably will approve," he said.

He also said the 4-trillion-yuan (586 billion-U.S.-dollar) stimulus plan that China has adopted will be vital to solve its current economic problems.
