Tibet is an inalienable part of China and Nepal opposes any attempt to conduct anti-China activities on its soil, a government minister said Thursday.
"Anti-Chinese elements may misuse our land for doing such activities, but we are firm not to allow them (to happen)," Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the Nepali minister of communication and information, said at a seminr, "Tremendous Transformation of Tibet," which was organized by the Nepal-China Media Forum.
The minister said he appreciated China's role in helping with Nepal's economic development.
China appreciates Nepal's one-China policy, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Qiu Guohong said on the same occasion.
"As a good friend of China, Nepal has always provided its support to China. We are very grateful for that," Qiu said.
Nepali experts at the seminar emphasized that Tibet is an autonomous region of China.
"Nepali people welcome changes in Tibet," said former Foreign Minister Hiranya Lal Shrestha.
Tibet has carried out socialist transformation and Tibetans are enjoying prosperous lives there. The huge changes have offered a "new opportunity for neighboring countries like Nepal to increase trade, (set up) joint ventures and (boost) tourism for mutual benefit," Shrestha added.
