Azerbaijan will continue to support the Chinese government's stance over Taiwan, Tibet and its fight against Eastern Turkistan terrorists, President Ilham Aliyev said Thursday, according to reports reaching here from Baku.

The Azerbaijan-China relations have been developing smoothly since the president visited China in March 2005, with cooperation in various fields constantly being strengthened and cooperation agreements reached by the two countries' leaders fulfilled efficiently, Aliyev said as he accepted credential presented by new Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zhang Yannian.

Aliyev thanked China for its support to Azerbaijan's efforts in safeguarding sovereign and territorial integrity, hoping that China will make new achievements in its economic and social development.

Zhang, for his part, said China-Azerbaijan cooperation in politics, economy and humanities has been expanded and deepened since the establishment of the diplomatic ties.

China will continue to take the policy of long-term friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation and common development so as to further China-Azerbaijan relations, Zhang said.
