China's Dunhuang art exhibition opened at the Chinese Culture Center in Berlin on the night of April 7.
Ma Canrong, Chinese Ambassador to Germany, and Herbert Butz, Deputy Director of the Museum of Asian Art in Germany, attended the opening ceremony and gave congratulations regarding its successful commencement. In addition, more than 100 German and Chinese figures from different circles visited the exhibition.
Duplicates of murals in cave No. 275 of the Mogao Grottoes and in cave No. 25 of the Yulin Grottoes as well as 20 copies of murals in the Dunhuang Grottoes including those painted by Chang Shuhong, the late famous Chinese painter and expert on Dunhuang studies, were put on display in the exhibition. These artistic works are being exhibited in Germany for the first time.
This is the largest cultural activity held in the Chinese Culture Center in Berlin since it officially opened in May 2008.
