China sincerely hopes all parties in Nepal can maintain unity and work together to push forward the peace process, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said here Friday.
He made the remarks when asked to comment on the current political situation in Nepal.
Ma said the issue was an internal affair for Nepal, but China, as a friend and neighbor, hoped Nepal could realize political stability and economic development.
Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also chairman of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (UCPN-M), resigned on Monday after President Ram Baran Yadav overruled his move to sack Chief of Army Staff General Rookmangud Katawal for alleged disobedience.
UCPN-M supporters reportedly took to streets Thursday to protest against the Nepali president's actions. Source: Xinhua
