China will work with Hungary to develop relations, a senior Chinese official said Wednesday.
"The government always pays great attention to Sino-Hungarian relations," Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said when meeting with former Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy.
Li, also a member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said China regarded Hungary as a credible partner within the European Union.
Relations had made remarkable progress since the two nations forged diplomatic ties 60 years ago, he said.
Medgyessy expressed appreciation for China's remarkable achievement in social and economic progress.
He said Hungary regarded China as one of the main strategic cooperative partners, and adhered to the one-China policy.
Medgyessy is in China at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
