China's top legislator Wu Bangguo concluded his three-day official goodwill visit to Russia on Friday during which the two countries vowed to enhance parliamentary exchanges.

During his stay here, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov and State Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov.

The top Chinese legislator also attended meetings of the cooperation committees between China's NPC and the two chambers of Russia's parliament.

Wu, in his talks with Medvedev, said the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation is gaining momentum for rapid growth as high-level contacts remain frequent.

Medvedev said Russia values parliamentary exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, adding that Wu's visit reflects the momentum for fast growth in bilateral links.

During his meetings with parliamentary leaders, Wu hailed the relations between the two parliaments and called for closer cooperation in the face of the global financial crisis.

Mironov said the Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, fully supports the Russian government's efforts to develop friendly cooperation with China and stands ready to cooperate with the NPC.

Gryzlov of the State Duma, the lower chamber of parliament, said parliamentary cooperation between Russia and China has played a significant and unique role in the fast development of bilateral ties.

Wu arrived in Moscow on Wednesday on the first leg of his three-nation tour, which will also take him to Austria and Italy.
