The cooperation between the media in Ukraine and China plays an important role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, says the leader of the Ukrainian news agency.
"Media is just like a foundation stone. On this basis, we can set up a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. I always believe it," Viktor Chamara, general director of the Ukrainian National Information Agency, told Xinhua during a recent interview.
"China's rapid social and economic development is deeply impressive. I feel that all Chinese people, regardless of their ages, believe in a bright future of their country and are doing everything to achieve it."
Chamara, who has visited China a number of times, said he was deeply impressed by what he saw during his travels.
"The latest trip to China, for example, I was lucky ... to visit China after the Beijing Summer Olympics," he said, "It was hard for me to describe my feelings on the sight of Beijing. It was simply unbelievable."
Chamara praised Beijing's infrastructure construction, including its spacious airports, broad streets and modern sports facilities.
"Dreams have become true in Beijing," he said.
Chamara, whose daughter majored in Mandarin in college, noted that the Chinese are becoming more self-confident and happier as a result of steady improvement in their living standards.
Chamara credited the development of China's economy to people's unity and willingness to work for the state. He also praised the deliberate development strategy taken by China's leaders and their determination to achieve their goals.
"A good example is that China in a short time has made great achievements in the field of exploring outer space," he said.
