Mexico has attached great importance to the strategic partnership relations between Mexico and China, said Mexican Ambassador to China Jorge Guajardo in a webcast interview with the official Web site of the Xinhua News Agency Friday.

"Like China, Mexico has a long history and culture, and we have lots of common points," said the Mexican ambassador, "We share much more consensus than disputes."

Jorge Guajardo said that Mexico has always been a friend of China, and since the two nations established the diplomatic ties 37 years ago, all Mexican presidents have visited China. He said Mexico has benefited from its diplomatic ties with China.

The two countries decided to hold strategic dialogues last July when Mexican President Felipe Calderon visited China, and China's Vice President Xi Jinping paid a visit to Mexico in February this year, according to the ambassador.

He said that Mexico and China have hold similar views on the current global financial crisis as they are both persisting in an open market, free trade and elimination of protectionism, in attempt to cast off the negative impacts of the financial crisis.

According to the ambassador, Mexico is eager for next year's World Expo in Shanghai.

Regarding the recent outbreak of AH1N1 in Mexico, the ambassador said Mexico is confident it can ease unfavorable impacts of the flu and return normality.
