Thailand's Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya disclosed here on Friday that during his visit to China on June 10-11 he will discuss with China about a possibility of longer stay of the newly-born-baby panda in Thailand.
On Wednesday morning, May 27, Lin Hui, the female panda in the Chiang Mai Zoo in the Thailand's northern province of Chiang Mai, delivered her first baby, which has become the first panda born in Thailand and the world for 2009.
The foreign minister said that he will report to China that Thais would like to see the newly-born panda to stay in Thailand longer than two years, the Thai News Agency reported.
However, whether or not the newly-born-baby panda can stay longer than two years in Thailand, it will depend on a decision to be made by the China's authorities, Kasit said.
Currently, the zoo's visitors can see the newly-born panda and its mother Lin Hui through closed circuit television as Thais are increasingly the panda fever.
