Singaporean Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew Monday expressed his confidence with China's economic growth, saying China had no problem to maintain its 8 percent GDP growth.
China had huge foreign reserves and it was still building airports nationwide, Lee said at a chief executive forum during the 65th International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Such developments indicated positive economic growth, he said.
China was very self-confident, Lee said. Lee told the forum that he had visited various cities in China recently, such as Shanghai and Nanjing, and found that people there were far from depression and believed the recovery would come back.
Lee also said that Singapore's successful development into a cosmopolitan country was the result of the advanced, liberalized and competitive aviation industry.
Lee shared his experience of establishing Singapore Airlines and Changi Airport at the forum.
He stressed that Singapore's clean and safe environment plus the convenience of its air transport had attracted foreign professionals to Singapore.
