Chinese President Hu Jintao will send Jiang Shusheng, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), as his special envoy to attend the inauguration of Mongolian President-elected Tsakhia Elbegdorj on June 18.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang made the announcement at Tuesday's regular press conference.

Elbegdorj won the presidential election on May 25 and the Mongolian parliament on June 4 passed draft measures to recognize him and set his inauguration for June 18.

The new president, a member of the opposition Democratic Party, will serve a four-year term after winning the May 24 election with51.21 percent of the votes.

The inauguration of Elbegdorj, a two-time former prime minister, will be held on the central square in Ulan Bator.

Elbegdorj said he would give priority to boosting bilateral relations with neighboring China and Russia.
