Vice minister of Commerce Chen Jian said here Thursday China has no limit on imported chicken from the United States, and the report of such policy is untrue.

The Wall Street Journal quoted Thursday James H. Sumner, president the USA Poultry and Egg Exporting Council, who heard from unnamed importers in China that China would stop issuing import permits on the product from July 1.

Vice minister Chen made the remarks at a press conference on international investment and trade here in Beijing.

The import of chicken is regulated by an automatic approval system that has no specific limit on quantity, Chen said.

He said that companies could decide to import chicken according to their need.
