Senior Chinese official Wang Gang met Ukrainian parliament chief Vladimir Litvin in Kiev Thursday, and they agreed to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, and the Supreme Council of Ukraine.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee and vice chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, is leading a delegation on a good-will visit to Ukraine to boost the bilateral relations.

During his meeting with Litvin, the Supreme Council (the parliament) Chairman, Wang said China and Ukraine, in recent years, have maintained sound and stable relations and have enhanced mutual political trust.

The two countries have also expanded cooperation and yielded fruitful results particularly in such sectors as trade and economy, science, military technology, aviation and space flight, and culture, he added.

Wang said the CPPCC is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Ukrainian parliament, actively engage itself in cooperation with the Ukrainian side at various levels and in all fields, consolidate the social foundation for bilateral friendship, so as to jointly make new contributions to the development of the China-Ukraine comprehensive, friendly and cooperative relationship.

Highly appreciating the current relations between the two countries, Litvin said the Ukrainian parliament is ready to boost exchanges and cooperation with the CPPCC to promote the bilateral ties.

The Chinese delegation earlier visited Romania.
