During a regular press conference on July 14, Qin Gang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answered questions from Chinese and overseas journalists.
One reporter asked that following the July 5 incident in Urumqi, the Chinese government immediately set up a press center in the city. Will China adopt similar measures in the future in handling news reporting on emergency incidents?
Qin answered that as everyone can see, following the July 5 incident, China's relevant departments have immediately adopted measures to assist Chinese and foreign reporters to visit and cover news in Urumqi. China hopes that the media can produce objective, fair and truthful reports based on facts with less falsification or confusion. There are still some false or confusing reports on the July 5 incident, and it is hoped that biased, distortive or misleading reports will be reduced as much as possible.
