How time flies. I still clearly remembered the scene that my family was invited to attend the celebrations activities for 40th anniversary of founding of the PRC 20 years ago. There were huge crowd of people in Tian’anmen square and it was full of color with tens of thousands of pots of flowers on it. We were so exciting. By today, the sight of their performance always floats into my mind. This year is the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. I heard that you would hold a grand military parade. I believe it must be spectacular.

I have indissoluble bond with China. I have been to China for five times since 1972 and lived there for 14 years together. The best time of my life was just in China and I have witnessed China’s modernization under the guide of opening-up policy.
I still remembered I had met with China’s leaders, such as Premier Zhou Enlai, Marshal Zhu De and Deng Xiaoping on different occasions. Their kindness and friendliness impress me so much.

I should have chosen to go to some countries in Europe and North America. However, I am a romanticist and at last, I chose to go to China. Because China was changing then, I wanted to witness this period of history by myself. We lived well there. W hen we first went to China, black tea that I like best was nowhere to be bought. But now, you can buy anything in Chinese market.

In 2005, I was invited to attend a poetry workshop in Xinjiang. The development and constructions of Xinjiang impressed me and I firmly believe that without the opening-up policy, it was impossible for China to get so brilliant achievement. An open China is playing an enormous role in the international arena and plays a huge influence on the international community.

I am old now and seldom to go out. However, if there is an opportunity, all my family want to go to China to watch your great achievement, to see my old friends and students as well.
