BEIJING: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) wants better ties with the United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said on Saturday, days after he visited Pyongyang for talks.

"North Korea does not only hope to improve relations with the United States, it also hopes to do so with ROK and Japan," Wen told a news conference on Saturday after a summit with Japan and the Republic of Korea.

"This is the deepest impression I got from my visit." Wen visited the DPRK from October 4 to October 6.

Wen also said Beijing would welcome "conscientious" and "constructive" two-way talks between Pyongyang and Washington.

“The two-way talks are originally under the six-party talks framework. It has been China’s long-time policy to welcome all parties to increase the mutual understanding and trust through the two-way talks.”

The second trilateral leaders' meeting of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea kicked off here Saturday morning. The first meeting was held in Fukuoka, Japan in 2008.
