Chairman Chapagain Bal Krishna of Nepali national news agency RSS spoke highly of Chinese President Hu Jintao's speech at the World Media Summit held recently in Chinese capital Beijing.

"It's a honor to listen to President Hu's speech at the Summit in Beijing. I agree with him over the point that cooperation of the world media will deepen the mutual understanding among different peoples in the world," said Chairman Krishna on Sunday, when talking to Xinhua correspondents, "Obviously, Hu knows well the role of the media for these, especially for facilitating communication between the developed and the developing countries."

Hu attended the Summit's opening ceremony Friday and delivered a speech. He urged the global media to use their distinctive assets and advantages to convey the messages of peace, development, cooperation, mutual benefit and tolerance. He also encouraged exchanges and cooperation among media outlets on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and trust.

"I also believe that his calling on media to work together for a harmonious world is a good and great idea. I hope that we, together with Chinese media, can contribute our efforts for a harmonious world," Krishna said.

Krishna also hailed Xinhua's role in world media, especially its reports on the developing world. He said the theme "cooperation, action, win-win and development" of the World Media Summit is very important.

"We will deepen our relationship with Xinhua and make contributions together to the world peace and development," said the Chairman.

"When talking to many global media leaders in Beijing, I found a common idea that such type of media forum like the World Media Summit hosted by Xinhua should continue," he said, "I hope I can join the World Media Summit, again."

The World Media Summit ending on Saturday was launched by Xinhua News Agency and another eight world media organizations. About 300 representatives from more than 170 media outlets from around the globe gathered to discuss how to develop the industry amid challenges from the economic crisis and new technologies.
