The U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington pulled in Hong Kong waters on Thursday to get replenishment upon its first portal call to the city.
Captain David Lausman, commander of the USS George Washington, said he is looking forward to opportunities of working with the Chinese navy in areas such as fighting piracy, increasing security as well as search and rescue at sea.
"Everything we can do together is good," he said.
The 332-meter, 97,000-ton USS George Washington, which was commissioned in 1992, carries a crew of more than 5,500.
