While answering a question from the Internet raised by Chinese online readers Monday in Shanghai at a town hall meeting, U.S. President Barrack Obama said that both the United States and China share common responsibility to cope with a string of global challenge.
Obama said that his administration and Chinese government should cooperate and have the resolve to deal with one of the worsening global woes – climate change.
He pointed out that as two of the world's largest emitters of greenhouse gases, the United States and China should be serious to see to their obligations to reduce their respective emissions of carbon gases. However, Obama admitted that the two, at different development levels and with varied populations, could differentiate in setting their initial goals of gas reduction.
He added that he and Chinese President Hu Jintao will talk about how to deal with climate change later in Beijing.
