Chinese embassy in Lunanda stages exhibition of China-African cooperation

The Chinese embassy in Luanda on Monday staged a photo exhibition on the latest developments of China-Africa cooperation since the 2006 Beijing Summit of the Forum of China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to promote understandings between the Chinese and Angola people.

Over 150 photos, which were displayed at the Angolan People's Association For Friendship With Foreign Countries, depicted meetings between Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and African leaders as well as projects in infrastructure in African countries which were constructed with Chinese assistances, mostly preferential loans.

The projects included a five-star hotel in Madagascar, water supply projects and a multi-functional gymnasium in Cameron, power-grid upgrading projects in Kenya, a national security information system in Ghana as well as schools, hotels, hospitals and other basic infrastructure projects in other African countries.

The exhibition also highlighted the 2008 visit to China by Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos and his meeting with President Hu Jintao, which both sides hailed as a landmark in bilateral ties.

Speaking at the exhibition, Chinese Ambassador to Angola Zhang Bolun hailed the Sino-Angolan cooperation as an important part of China's blueprint to build up new type of strategic partnership with African countries.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Angolan People's Association For Friendship With Foreign Countries Doings Coelho Dacruz, Deputy Minister of Oil jose G.R. Inocencio and other Angola VIPs as well as members of diplomatic corps in Luanda.
