Vietnam highly values Chinese doctors' assistance to cataract patients

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam said here on Thursday that Vietnam highly appreciated the valuable assistance of Chinese doctors for Vietnamese people, especially the cataract patients in the country's northern province Bac Giang.

The president of the VFF Central Committee made the statement when warmly receiving Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Feng Zuo Ku, wholed a group of Chinese optical doctors to Vietnam for a free eye surgery program.

The free eye surgery program is a colorful illustration for the solidarity and the traditional friendship between the two countries, said Huynh Dam.

Huynh Dam said that the VFF Central Committee will make all efforts to deepen the cooperation with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, contributing to the development of the bilateral all-round strategic cooperative partnership for the benefits of the two peoples.

Feng said that the free eye surgery program can be seen as a bridge, establishing a close link between the two countries. It helps deepen the traditional friendship and understanding between the two peoples.

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries expects further cooperation with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, said Feng.

The free eye surgery program, namely "Action for Bright Eye", was successfully performed by Chinese optical doctors on 97 cataract patients, aged from 87 to 47, living in the northern province Bac Giang of Vietnam from Nov. 14 to 17.

So far, there have been about 300 cataract patients in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Cambodia, Mongolia and Vietnam receiving eye surgery by Chinese optical doctors.
