The tenth World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention started in Manila Friday. More than 1,000 businessmen from China and 2,000 businessmen with Chinese origin are present for a two-day forum which aims to enhance cooperation among Chinese entrepreneurs.

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Jia Qinglin, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC) National Committee, who is on a two-day visit to the Philippines, attended the opening ceremony.

With the theme "World Prosperity through Chinese Entrepreneurship", this year's conference focuses on cooperation to weather the financial crisis and to explore ways to achieve the sustainable growth of the private sector.

Vice Chairman of the convention Alfonso Uy said in his speech that the interaction and cooperation between Chinese is particularly important as impacts of the crisis linger in the world economy. "The conference will serve as the platform to deepen exchanges, grasp the pulse of the world's trend, and put our hands together, to overcome the challenges," he said.

The World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention has been successfully held in Singapore, China's Hong Kong, Bangkok, Thailand, Vancouver, Canada, Australia's Melbourne, China's Nanjing, Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur, South Korea's Seoul and Japan's Kobe since it was founded in 1991.
