Speaking at a meeting with Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka in Nairobi, Lu Wei, the vice president of Xinhua, said the state news agency of China has established good relationship with local media, including its counterpart in the East African country, Kenya News Agency (KNA).
He hoped that the two agencies could bring their cooperation to a new level with continuing efforts from both sides, saying Xinhua would like to provide help and assistance within its capacity to KNA.
Lu also briefed the Kenyan vice president on the operation of Xinhua in the Sub-Saharan African region. "We not only introduce Africa to China, but also introduce China to Africa," he said.
Musyoka commended Xinhua for its cooperation with KNA, hoping that the relationship can be strengthened in the future.
He also expressed hope that with the help of Xinhua, more Chinese tourist and investors will come to Kenya, the country blessed with abundant tourism resources and positioned as an important portal to the East African market.
Earlier on Monday, Lu, who heads a six-member delegation from Xinhua on the African tour, also visited Kenya News Agency and had a meeting with Ezekiel Mutua, the director of the Information and Public Communications.
