Vietnam friendship association celebrates 60 years of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations

Vietnam-China Friendship Association Friday held a reception to mark the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam-China diplomatic relations, with singing and dancing performances featuring deep friendship between the two countries.

Tong Thi Phuong, a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese National Assembly vice chairman, and Sun Guoxiang, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam attended the reception.

In the past six decades, Vietnamese and Chinese communist parties, governments and peoples have helped each other in all aspects and the bilateral traditional friendship relations have developed continuously, said the association's President Doan ManhGiao at the reception.

Giao said this year is the Vietnam-China's Year of Friendship. His association will hold various activities throughout the year to consolidate the bilateral traditional friendship relations.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Guoxiang said in his speech that China and Vietnam have forged close bond like "comrades and brothers" over the past years. The two countries share broad common interests and it is the common goal to enhance mutual trust and promote mutual-beneficial cooperation.

Sun said he believed the two countries would join hands to further consolidate the traditional friendship and advance the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Over 200 people from the two countries attend the reception. The 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations is to fall on Jan. 18.
