At least 4 Chinese tourists injured in boat mishap in Malaysia

At least four tourists from Sichuan, China, were injured Saturday afternoon when the tourist boat carrying them collided with another boat near Pulau Perhentian, an island of Terengganu State in Malaysia.

They were all admitted to Kubang Kerian Hospital in the neighboring Kelantan State for further treatment, one of the victims Zhang Yu told Xinhua here on Sunday.

The four injured tourists, aged between 25 and 29, were from Mianyang and Chongqing, Sichuan.

Besides suffering from clavicle fracture, wounds and bruises were also found on the victims' bodies.

According to Zhang, the severe clash between the boats threw her into the sea, and she found herself in the hospital when she regained consciousness.

Zhang and her peers arrived in Malaysia early Saturday and were on board the tourist boat with a total of 12 passengers at 10:30 a. m. Saturday bringing them to the island.

Zhang said that according to their initial plan, they would stay in Malaysia for about a week, touring Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia and the state of Malacca before returning home on July 30.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's official news agency Bernama reported that six tourists from China were injured in the incident, of which, three seriously injured passengers were rushed to Kubang Kerian Hospital

Bernama quoted Eastern Region Marine Police Chief Mohd Salleh Mat Jani as saying that three other Chinese nationals were given outpatient treatment in a district hospital in Terengganu State.

Mohd Salleh also said that four local tourists and a local officer also suffered minor injuries in the incident.
