DPRK newspaper lauds Kim Jong Il's visit to China

An official daily of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Thursday praised the unofficial visit paid by top leader Kim Jong Il to China in late August.

Kim's two unprecedented visits to China this year indicated the deep friendship between the DPRK and China, Rodong Sinmun said in an editorial.

The visit in August is an event of great significance to further consolidating and developing the historic and traditional DPRK-China friendship, it noted.

The trip deepened the friendship between the two countries' leaders and marked a new development of DPRK-China relations in the new century, it said.

The DPRK-China friendship with enduring vitality was the precious fortune of two peoples, it stressed.

The people of the DPRK appreciated the generous support and aid of the Chinese Communist Party, government and people to the DPRK that is building a great prosperous and powerful nation, the editorial said.

The party and people of the DPRK will continue making active effort to further strengthen the invincible DPRK-China friendship, the editorial stated.

Kim Jong Il visited China from Aug. 26 to 30 at the invitation of Chinese president Hu Jintao. He paid an unofficial visit to China in May.
