Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said Ukraine could draw on China's experience in staging international events to prepare for the 2012 European Football Championship.
"China's successful experience in staging the Beijing Olympics and Shanghai World Expo will help us to run the football games," Yanukovych said after visiting the Ukrainian and Chinese pavilions at the Shanghai Expo.
Ukraine and China had decided to comprehensively lift their cooperation, creating new prospects for partnership in economy, science, energy, education and culture, said Yanukovych.
Ukraine regarded China as a reliable partner and gave priority to bilateral ties, Yanukovych said.
During his stay in Shanghai, Yanukovych met with Yu Zhengsheng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC.
Yanukovych was on a four-day state visit to China, during which he held talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao and met with top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao.
He also witnessed the signing of a joint statement to upgrade bilateral friendly cooperative relations in a comprehensive way.
The first Ukrainian President to visit China since 2002, Yanukovych concluded his tour and left Shanghai Sunday evening.
