Chinese share prices on Friday recovered slightly as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, edged up 47.97 points, or 0.96 percent, to 5,032.13 points at the close after plunging to less than 4900 points during the morning session.
The Shenzhen Component Index on the smaller Shenzhen Stock Exchange rose 268.15 points, or 1.68 percent, to 16,217.51 points.
The Hushen 300 Index, accounting for 60 percent of the nation's stock market value, rose 83.54 points, or 1.75 percent, to 4,856.16 points.
The combined turnover on the two markets dropped further to 75.7 billion yuan (10.2 billion U.S. dollars) from 99.6 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
